We study how marine phytoplankton communities respond to environmental change and drive ocean carbon cycling.

We deploy our custom SeaFlow flow cytometer at sea to continuously sample collect phytoplankton cell properties across ocean basins.

We develop population models to estimate growth and mortality rates, revealing how environmental factors control phytoplankton communities.
